About Dr. Jonathan Dattilo
Dr. Jonathan Dattilo is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who focuses specifically on hip and knee replacement. He cares for patients across the Tampa Bay area at Alexander Orthopaedic Associates, and serves as the practice’s Adult Reconstruction Fellowship Director.
Training & background
Dr. Dattilo pursued one of the most rigorous training pathways in orthopedics, culminating in a dedicated fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction — the subspecialty focused entirely on joint replacement.
- Fellowship
Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute — Adult Hip & Knee Reconstruction (Alexandria, VA) - Residency
University of Pennsylvania — Orthopaedic Surgery (Philadelphia, PA) - Medical School
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine — Doctor of Medicine (Baltimore, MD) - Undergraduate
Northwestern University — B.S., Magna Cum Laude
He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is certified in robotic hip and knee replacement and partial (unicompartmental) knee replacement.
Focus & philosophy
Dr. Dattilo’s practice centers on modern, less-invasive joint replacement — anterior and robotic-assisted hip replacement, partial and robotic knee replacement, same-day (outpatient) surgery, and complex revision procedures for patients whose prior replacements have failed.
Just as important is his approach to getting to surgery. He doesn’t rush patients toward an operation — he explores nonsurgical options first, and when surgery is the right choice, he uses a multimodal, narcotic-free approach to pain that he has studied and published on directly. The goal is straightforward: relieve your pain, get you moving quickly, and do it with honesty about what you need — and what you don’t.
